CLOCC pilots many of its activities in 10 “vanguard” community areas in Chicago. These communities were selected due to their high incidence of childhood obesity, strength of partnerships among community members, and connections to prior CLOCC work. There were originally six vanguard communities (Englewood, Humboldt Park, Lower West Side, Rogers Park, West Garfield Park, and West Town); four more were added in 2007 (Logan Square, North Lawndale, Roseland, and South Chicago).
